Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
Lynen is operated by Lynen Labs LLC ("Lynen", "we", "us"). These Terms form an agreement between you and Lynen Labs LLC.
By creating an account, accessing, or using Lynen (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your place of residence, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Description of Service
Lynen is an information service that compares garment labeling claims against independently sourced verification data and provides general, AI-generated commentary about textile composition. Lynen is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing in the Service should be construed as a recommendation regarding any medical or dermatological condition; consult a licensed physician or dermatologist for those matters.
Product, verification, and composition data are provided "as is" and "as available." Lynen does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data displayed in the Service, including data obtained from third-party testing partners, retailers, or user submissions.
4. AI-Assisted Analysis and Consent
By requesting an analysis or additional feedback, you consent to the processing of your submitted data, including garment scans and self-reported skin information, by artificial-intelligence systems, including transmission to third-party AI service providers for the sole purpose of generating your analysis.
AI-generated output is produced automatically and may contain errors or omissions. It is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice of any kind.
5. Legal Notices for Ly’s Analysis
Ly, the in-app research assistant, presents information drawn from public scientific and public-health sources. The notices below govern that output. The first three accompany every analysis; the remainder appear whenever the underlying data type is used.
Not medical advice (shown on every analysis). Ly is not a doctor. This is information about materials and published classifications, not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. For anything about your skin or health, talk to a qualified clinician.
Source attribution (shown on every analysis). Sources: PubChem (US National Library of Medicine) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Retrieval dates are shown with each figure.
No government endorsement (shown on every analysis). Reference to specific commercial products, manufacturers, companies, or trademarks does not constitute endorsement or recommendation by the U.S. Government, Department of Health and Human Services, or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Lynen is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, NIH, NLM, NCBI, CDC, ATSDR, or NIOSH.
Hazard is not risk. Hazard classifications describe a substance on its own. They do not measure what is in a finished garment or what reaches your skin.
Not tested by Lynen. Lynen has not tested this item. Anything here about its contents comes from the seller or from published data about materials, not from a lab result on this garment.
Occupational scope. NIOSH skin notations are derived for workplace exposure: industrial concentrations and repeated contact. They classify a substance, not a consumer garment.
Population data is not about you. Population statistics describe groups of people at a point in time. They cannot tell you anything about yourself.
Data may be dated. Public health data is released on a delay. Each figure shows the period it covers; some series are no longer updated.
Ly selects which conditional notices apply to a given analysis. That selection can only add notices, never remove the ones shown on every analysis, and Ly never writes the wording itself: it identifies which notice applies and the application renders the text above verbatim.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data; scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from the Service; reverse engineer or copy the Service except as permitted by law; or submit content that is false, infringing, or harmful.
7. Accounts and Termination
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and promptly update it if it changes.
Lynen may suspend or terminate your account at its discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to the Service or other users. You may terminate your account at any time through the account settings.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and the Lynen name and logomark, is owned by Lynen or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. No rights are granted to you other than the limited right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Lynen does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
This disclaimer applies to the fullest extent permitted by the law of the State of New Jersey and does not limit any warranty or right that New Jersey law does not permit to be disclaimed.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lynen and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
In no event shall the aggregate liability of Lynen arising out of or relating to these Terms exceed the amount you have paid Lynen, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.
These limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by the law of the State of New Jersey and do not limit any liability that New Jersey law does not permit to be limited.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lynen and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or damage, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
12. Modification of Terms
Lynen may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
14. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision is severed to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder of the Terms continues in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lynen regarding the Service. Lynen’s failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of its right to do so later.
